Nowhere else in the world can you experience Bauhaus architecture in such a small area as Dessau-Roßlau. With the 24-hour ticket, guests can visit all of the Bauhaus milestones in Dessau, from the school to the Masters’ Houses of Feininger, Klee, and Kandinsky down to the Törten housing estate. From the Director’s Room to the Gymnastics Room and the present laboratory, you’ll experience the Bauhaus in living color. The ticket also includes all public tours, the use of the Bauhaus auto guide, and travel on Dessau’s public transportation. In the former student’s dormitory of the Dessau Bauhaus, visitors can now spend the night in the authentically furnished rooms of Bauhaus members such as furniture designer Marcel Breuer or the painter Josef Albers.
A bicycle excursion along the shore of the Elbe can be combined with a visit to the Kornhaus. This impressive structure on the banks of the Elbe was built as a beer hall in 1929, and today is home to an excellent restaurant.
Dessau is not only the city of Bauhaus, but also the hometown of Kurt Weill – the famous modernist composer who set Bertold Brecht’s Threepenny Opera to music. A festival with international artists is held every year in his honor.
